XAUUSD trades almost around the clock, but it only pays properly for a few hours a day. This converter shows each Gold session in your own local time, alongside what the tape typically does in that window.

Session boundaries shift by an hour when the UK and US move on and off daylight saving at different dates. Your local column follows your device clock automatically.
The best time to trade Gold
If you only trade one window, make it the London open. Asian-session XAUUSD typically builds a tight range on modest volume; when London desks arrive, that range is swept and the day's real direction is chosen. The first two to three hours after 07:00 UTC produce the majority of clean, structured Gold scalps.
The second window is the London/New York overlap from 12:00 to 16:00 UTC. Both centres are open, spreads are at their tightest, and virtually every US macro release that matters to Gold — CPI, PPI, jobs data, FOMC — lands inside it. Moves initiated here have the liquidity behind them to actually reach a target.
Hours to be careful with
Late New York, after roughly 19:00 UTC, thins out quickly: momentum fades, spreads creep, and reversals against the day's trend are common. The daily broker rollover around 21:00 UTC widens spreads sharply for a few minutes, which is enough to trigger stops on tight scalps. Friday's close and Sunday's reopen carry gap risk that no stop can protect against.
Building a session routine
A workable Gold routine is short: mark the Asian high and low, note the day's scheduled US data, wait for London to sweep one side of that range, and take the reaction with a stop beyond the sweep. Size it with the position size calculator, then stop trading when the window closes. Trading Gold outside the hours your strategy was designed for is the fastest way to give back a good week.
