Gold Trading Tools & XAUUSD Calculators

Gold moves differently to any FX pair — the contract size, the pip value and the volatility all behave their own way. These free calculators do the XAUUSD maths for you so your risk per trade stays where you decided it should be.

Why Gold maths trips traders up

On most FX pairs a standard lot is 100,000 units of the base currency. On XAUUSD a standard lot is 100 ounces, and Gold is quoted to two decimals — so a "pip" is a $0.01 move and a full dollar move in the Gold price is 100 pips. Traders who carry across their EURUSD habits routinely size ten times too large and take a stop-out that was never in the plan.

The safe order of operations is always the same: decide the percentage of the account you are willing to lose, mark the stop where the trade idea is invalid, and only then let the lot size fall out of the arithmetic. Never the other way around. Our position size calculator enforces exactly that order.

If you want to see the same discipline applied to live setups, our Gold signals are published with entry, stop and targets defined in R, and every result is logged on the performance page.
